# Marketing Agent

> Set up the Marketing Agent for an app and talk to it with the Base44 Apps API

These endpoints set up the Marketing Agent for an app and let you talk to it. The agent reads the app and drafts marketing channels, KPIs, and a strategy for you to review. The first run in a workspace creates the workspace's Marketing Agent, a Superagent that everyone in the workspace shares. Each run is a Superagent turn, charged to the workspace in message credits.

## Setup steps

Setup moves through steps, and the agent waits at each one for your approval.

**To set up the Marketing Agent:**

1. Call [Start Marketing Agent setup](https://docs.base44.com/api-reference/start-marketing-agent-setup.md). The work runs in the background.
2. Poll [Get Marketing Agent state](https://docs.base44.com/api-reference/get-marketing-agent-state.md) until `status` is `ready` or `error`. Setup then waits at a `setup_stage` of `channels`.
3. Approve each step with [Answer Marketing Agent setup step](https://docs.base44.com/api-reference/answer-marketing-agent-setup-step.md), or ask for changes with [Send Marketing Agent message](https://docs.base44.com/api-reference/send-marketing-agent-message.md). The steps are `channels`, `kpis`, and `budget`.
4. After the budget step, the agent writes the strategy. Poll the state again until `status` is `ready`.

After setup, [Send Marketing Agent message](https://docs.base44.com/api-reference/send-marketing-agent-message.md) is an ordinary conversation about the app's marketing.
