Create, change, and delete an app, and manage its branding, secrets, ownership, template listings, SSO, and MCP server with the Base44 Apps API

The Apps API is in beta. Its endpoints and responses may change.

These endpoints manage an app as a whole. Create one, change its name and settings, and delete it. They also cover the app’s branding, its secrets, who owns it, its template listings, and its SSO and MCP server settings.

Delete an app

Delete app moves the app to the trash, and the live app goes offline right away. Call Check app delete impact first. It lists the template listings, custom domains, and Google Ads campaigns the deletion affects, and how many users the app has.

Change the owner

There are two ways to change who owns an app. Start ownership transfer invites a new owner by email, and nothing changes until they accept. The invitation expires after 7 days. Transfer ownership to a workspace member makes the change right away, with no invitation, and the app stays in its workspace.

Secrets

Secrets are available to the app’s backend functions as environment variables. Base44 never returns a secret’s value. List secrets returns names only, so use it to check which secrets are set.

Management

• List apps: List the apps you can access in a workspace.
• Create app: Create an empty app, or build one from a prompt.
• Get app: Read one app’s details and settings.
• Update app: Change the app’s name, description, access, and sign-in settings.
• Patch app: Make the same change as Update app, with errors in the standard error format.
• Check app delete impact: See what deleting the app affects before you do it.
• Delete app: Move the app to the trash and take it offline.
• Get remix requirements: See what you need to know before remixing an app.
• Remix an app: Create a copy of an app in your workspace.
• Export app source code: Download the app’s source code as a zip archive.

Branding

• Change app slug: Change the app’s <slug>.base44.app address.
• Set app logo: Set the app’s logo from an image URL.
• Generate app logo: Generate a logo image from a text description.
• Set social image: Set or remove the image shown when someone shares a link to the app.
• Upload app file: Upload a file to the app’s storage and get a link to it.
• List assets: List the files in the app’s media library.

Secrets

• List secrets: List the names of the secrets stored on the app.
• Set secret: Create or overwrite one or more secrets.
• Delete secret: Delete one secret and redeploy the backend functions.

Ownership transfer

• Check ownership transfer: Check whether an invitation can be sent, and what would transfer.
• Start ownership transfer: Invite a new owner by email.
• Transfer ownership to a workspace member: Make a workspace member the owner right away.
• Get pending ownership transfer: Read the app’s pending transfer, if it has one.
• Resend ownership transfer: Send the pending invitation again.
• Cancel ownership transfer: Cancel the pending transfer.

Template listings

• Submit template listing update: Send the app’s current state as an update to its approved listing.
• Get template listing pending update: Check whether an update is waiting for review.
• Archive template listing: Take the listing off the template gallery.

SSO and MCP

• Get app SSO settings: Read the app’s own SSO provider and its settings.
• Update app SSO settings: Set up or change the app’s SSO provider.
• Get MCP status: Read the app’s live MCP server.
• Get MCP config: Read the MCP config you’re editing and the tools it resolves to.
• Update MCP config: Change how the MCP server authenticates clients and which tools it serves.
